Happy 4th of July!!!

The big party weekend is coming and chances are good that you are going to or hosting a BBQ. We like to hang out in our cul-de-sac, invite friends over, BBQ out front and let the kids play. Of course we need some fireworks and really good food!!! Everyone is bringing something to go with the burgers, but I'm making this yummy appetizer too. My friend's mother in law gave me this recipe from Taste of Home, and I have to tell you...it's easy...delicious...and people eat it up!!! Let me know if you end up using the recipe at kristin@buckleybakersfield.com!!! Oh and by the way...while you're BBQing and eating that good food...be sure to listen to The Retro Weekend starting this Friday at Noon!!!

Goodbye Oprah!

25 years...gone like that!! What am I going to do when 4:00 comes around? Chores? That's gross!!! Oh Oprah...why are you doing this to me?? To close a chapter in your life? To move onto bigger and better things?? Whatever!!! I want more makeovers...studio audience giveaways...and your BOOK CLUB!! What the heck?! Actually, I have to tell you that I've only grown to love Oprah the last year or two. I've watched her since I was...9, I guess. So, yeah, she's been around most of my life, but I never watched religiously until a few years ago. Especially now with her Behind The Scenes show on OWN, you really get to catch a side of her that perhaps we didn't know existed. To me, she became much more real then the bazillionaire with the daytime talk show who could buy any of us!! (Click The "Oprah's Book Club" picture to take you to the full list of books she had on her show!!)

I think it was her Favorite Things episode a few years back that got me hooked. How do those audiences get so lucky?! Or the show where she gave everyone in the audience a new car!!! I would NEVER have that kind of luck!!! Or perhaps it was when my girl, Celine Dion, became a regular guest on her show. Oh...or when Luke & Laura from General Hospital were on there...I don't know...but it's all been up my alley!!!

Watching her show today (a 2 part tribute to her) really opened my eyes to all the things that she has done around the world. The impressions that she has left and the lives she changed. It was truly touching. People can get political about her, but at the end of the day...she's entertained the heck out of me, enlightened many people and done a whole lot of good.

Good luck Oprah! I'll be watching OWN...please save the soaps! Thanks! :)

Looking for a new book?

This movie looks super cute. I love anything that Kate Hudson is in. Her mom, Goldie, is adorable too and a carbon copy of her!! I will sit through even a so so movie if she is in it. She's just too cute. The trailer for this movie was on TV and I thought how close it was to Bride Wars with Anne Hathaway...but a little more scandalous!!!!! Which I'm ALL ABOUT!!! When I heard there was a book it was based on I had to get it.

Now look...I'm not a romance novel, love story type of girl. As romance and lovey as I get is the Twilight novels!!!! But I really wanted to try this one out. Wowser!! I'm only through the second chapter and I am hooked!! They leave the gate with DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA!! Heck, who needs All My Children and One Life To Live anyway when I have this to read!!! I had to share it with you. It's received 4 1/2 out of 5 stars from barnesandnoble.com with over 1500 reviews. OK...I've only read 2 chapters, but I'm telling you it had me at hello or Chapter 1...whatever. In the book, there are characters that we know all too well. Maybe we can even relate to some of them...and others...well, I would NOT want to be in their shoes. But a fun and easy read nonetheless.

Check it out for yourself. I'm going home right now to start on Chapter 3. Let me know what you think on my Facebook page. Happy Reading!!

Will & Kate!!! So excited!!!

I am one of those people that CAN'T WAIT for the Royal Wedding! Truly. I will be up watching...for sure!!! And for some reason, I have always been totally into the Royals. From Diana's wedding to now. I was only a tiny tot when Diana married Charles, but I remember it. Mom got me up before the sun came up to watch it and you know what...I LOVED IT!!! At only 3 or 4 years old!!!! Will I end up recording it? Probably not and you better believe my girls will be up watching with me!!!

Only catch is that April 29th is on a Friday...I'll have to be up at 2 or 3 in the morning to watch it live!!! So no judging my on air ability that day!!! Something about these royal weddings are just amazing. The ceremony will be a bit of a snooze fest, but the pomp and circumstance of it all is just amazing! What will her tiara look like? What will their new title be? And the dress...it's going to be amazing!!! OH I CAN'T WAIT!!!

If you're a royal dork like me you'll love this link!!! For those that have an iPhone or an iPad...yes there is an app for the wedding! And yes, I have it!!! LOL!!

And although I'm sure many are in denial...I would put good money on a record breaking amount of people tuning in! I CAN'T WAIT!! Who wants to have a viewing party at 3am?!?!??!?! :)

Have I found the fountain of youth?!?!?

Whew! Have I found an AWESOME place! Possibly the fountain of youth!!!! Have you been to Skinsation yet? I would put money down that you or someone you know has. This place is amazing and has everything that any woman could imagine...and there are things for men too...so don't feel left out!

So I started going into Skinsation a few weeks ago and began the Reaction by Viora treatment. It treats cellulite and helps tighten skin. Click here to find out all the details on this amazing procedure! My arms have always been a sore spot for me, so I decided to treat them with Reaction by Viora to tighten them up a bit. I didn't really know what to expect my first time. It feels like a vaccum was suctioning at my skin and warming it up. Well, that is the machine warming the fat and breaking it down. Once it's broken down it exits the body through the lymphatic system...so lots of water is needed. The machine then uses heat to tighten the skin...and so far I have nearly an inch off of both arms after only 3 treatments. I hope to lose a few more inches before I have to wear this dress for my best friend's wedding in June!!

Yeah, she looks awesome in it! But to me...my arms scream LOOK AT ME while I wear it...thus Reaction by Viora has come into my life! My personal goal is to have at least 5 inches off of each arm by the June wedding...so let's see how it goes!!

I'm also doing laser hair removal, Lattise and Liquid Smile through Skinsation...I'm going to be a whole new woman...I'll keep you posted on all of that as well!!

Japan

I heard about the disaster in Japan late Thursday night. I just couldn't fall asleep so I was piddling around on the internet when I heard about. Of course, I glued myself to the tv until I eventually fell asleep. The last thing I remember is hearing about the tsunami warning for Hawaii...and my dreams were just crazy that night. But, nothing that I could have dreamed up was anything near reality. I couldn't believe...and still can't...the devastation, the DISASTER that the people of Japan are dealing with and how something so far away has effected the west coast along with Hawaii. I sat with my family last night and was just so thankful to have us all under one roof and really thought about all those that are going through absolute hell right now.

So, what can we do to help them??? I'm attaching the link to the Red Cross website where you can make your donations. They say they don't volunteers right now, but monetary donations are much needed! And just keep all of the people that have been affected in your thoughts and prayers. And hug your loved ones a little tighter today.
